Well, it’s been a month already for SAN.com, and Kevin and I feel pretty good about our progress. There are a lot of things that we’re happy with, but there is one thing in particular that we would like to see get better.

The Look

We like the way the site looks, first and foremost. It looks professional enough for our taste. The link buttons stand out more now, that’s something we had to change in the template that we downloaded. The landing pages for our categories also look pretty good. We had to figure out how to make those pages look like that within the html code. We’re pretty proud of that, because neither one of us knows much at all about html. Please, click on any one of the category links on the left side of the page to see what we’re talking about.

 

Google AdSense

We’re also pretty proud of the way the Google AdSense looks on our site. We wrote a post about how we did it called Using Google AdSense. We feel like we did a good job with AdSense. The ads aren’t intrusive on your reading experience, and the ads that Google has been placing there have been very relevant. That was something that Kevin and I were a little worried about, but it seems to have worked out.

 

Disappointments

The only thing that we’re a little disappointed about is that we’ve had a whopping total of ONE visitor to our site, so far. That person came to us through a search engine, and landed on our Fusion Cash post. We are very grateful to that one reader, though. So, if you came to our site on January 22, 2008 looking for information on Fusion Cash, thank you and please keep coming back. Leave a comment next time, too.

 

Improvements for the future

So, what are we going to do about the whole we-have-no-visitors thing? The answer is: well, right now we don’t know, but we’re going to figure that out. In the beginning of this website’s life, I didn’t really want people reading here just yet, because I wanted people to have stuff to read. But now I think there are enough articles on this site that we can start looking into some strategies to bring in readers. We really want you to know, though, that we really appreciate people reading our site. Even if it’s one person who keeps coming back, that’s enough for us to keep going. We want to be a service to our readers. So, if there’s something that you want to see on the site, or something that you feel might make our site better, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We’re very new to this and can use the help. But give us a shot. Read our stuff, and tell your friends.
